RICHMOND, Va. - Jeff Gordon will have to start from the rear of the field for Saturday night's Dan Lowry 400 after his team needed to change the starter in his No. 24 Chevrolet.
This weekend's race at Richmond International Raceway is an impound race and any unapproved changes made to the cars after Friday's qualifying result in a loss of starting position. Gordon was slated to start 28th.
Saturday afternoon, Gordon's team discovered the engine in his car wouldn't crank and the starter required replacement.
