A Petty Enterprises spokesman said Tuesday that the team will not attempt to swap owner points for the No. 43 and No. 45 Dodges before the next Sprint Cup race at Martinsville on March 30.
Kyle Petty is outside the top 35 in owner points after five races, so he will have to qualify on speed to make the Martinsville race.
Bobby Labonte drives the No. 43 and has that team well inside the top 35. As a former Cup champion, Labonte could have used former champion's provisionals to make races if his points had been swapped to give Petty the guarateed starting slot that goes to cars in the top 35.
