Michael Waltrip Racing has placed tribute decals on the cars driven by Waltrip and David Reutimann to mark the final points race of Dale Jarrett's career.
The stickers say "Thanks DJ, A Champion, A Legend, a Friend" in honor of Jarrett, who is stepping out of his car following Sunday's race at Bristol. He's still scheduled to run the exhibition All-Star race in May for one last start.
"We are very grateful for everything D.J. has done not only for MWR, but for NASCAR," Waltrip said. "He has been an invaluable resource ... and he will continue to be.
"Having the decal is a way for us to thank Dale for everything he has done and to tell him that we will miss him. It's a symbol of our gratitude."
Never miss a local story.
Jarrett made his Cup debut at Martinsville Speedway in 1984, racking up 32 wins — three of them Daytona 500 victories — and the 1999 championship along the way.
