A few short takes from the early January-but-closer-to-racing-season notebook:
Stanley Tools will be the primary sponsor for Elliott Sadler’s No. 19 Dodges at Gillett Evernham Motorsports for 12 races and the All-Star Challenge in 2008. It shares primary sponsorship on that car with Best Buy.
The last two races from Friday night’s final round of qualifications for the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals will be on a live webcast on NASCAR.com and FoxSports.com. at 10:30 p.m. Saturday’s main event will be shown on HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 8 p.m.. The cost is $24.95. The event can be ordered directly from a viewer’s digital cable or satellite TV provider. Sprint Cup star Tony Stewart is the defending Chili Bowl champion.
Jon Wood and Keven Wood will share driving duties for their family’s entry in the Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford. Jon, 26, is the son of team co-owner Eddie Wood. Keven is 23 and his father is Len Wood, Eddie’s brother and also a co-owner of the Wood Brothers team.
American Commercial Lines will be the primary sponsor for 16 races on Jack Sprague’s No. 2 Chevrolets in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The team is owned by Kevin Harvick Inc.
