LAS VEGAS – Tony Schumacher, Robert Hight and Chip Ellis held on to their No. 1 qualifying positions Saturday at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, each earning eight vital points in their bids for world titles.
Schumacher piloted his Top Fuel dragster to a 4.482-second run at 327.59 mph, while Hight drove his Funny Car to a 4.763 at 322.58 for the top spot.
By qualifying No. 1, Hight edged a point closer to current leader Tony Pedregon, who qualified second with a 4.770 at 314.09 mph.
In Pro Stock, Dave Connolly streaked into the lead with a 6.725 at 205.57 mph to displace Friday leader Justin Humphreys. Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Chip Ellis set a track record to top the two-wheel set.
