CONCORD, N.C. - Kurt Busch said Thursday he didn’t believe the planned merger of U.S. operations between Miller Brewing Co. and Coors Brewing Co. would affect the Miller Lite sponsorship of his No. 2 Dodge at Penske Racing.
The companies jointly announced earlier this week an effort to cut as much as $500 million in costs with a strategy that could include job cuts at Miller and Coors, particularly in corporate operations and marketing. No breweries were expected to be closed under the deal.
“I haven’t talked with any Miller people about it. We have some meetings planned Saturday,” Busch said. “I’m sure it doesn’t change a thing.
“Roger Penske (team owner) has been with Miller for over 25 years with his race teams. That is what really anchors us solidly with that program.”
