San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick fired in an 87-mph ceremonial first pitch to San Francisco Giants reliever Sergio Romo on Friday night.
Turlock's Kaepernick, a pitcher at Pitman High who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2009, was met with cheers from the crowd and hugs from mascot Lou Seal before the Giants lost to the Miami Marlins 6-3.
Kaepernick also signed a box of baseballs for the Giants organization before tweeting that his pitch was "not bad" and that he'd go to spring training next year to get ready.
