LARGE SCHOOLS

 1.  (1) Oakdale (8-0): Three backs top 100 yards and Mutsangs rally in the fourth for a 35-23 win over Manteca. Sierra at home this week, then to Sonora.

 2.  (2) Manteca (5-3): Buffs played Oakdale tighter than anyone has this season, going down to the final minutes. Heavy favorite to win their final two games.

 3.  (7) Atwater (6-2): Week 1 loss to Bullards (now 8-0) looking better each week; Friday's 21-20 thriller over Merced vaults Falcons over VOL teams.

 4.  (3) Sonora (7-1): Wildcats showed a pass game Friday, which could come into play as they prep for Week 10 showdown against longtime rival Oakdale.

 5.  (4) Sierra (7-1): T-wolves blanked Ceres 34-0 to tune up for showdown at Oakdale. Can RB Jarrod Daniels find gaps in Oakdale's aggressive "D"?

 6.  (5) Modesto (5-3): Panthers continue to dominate the MMC, beating Beyer 50-23 with its punishing RB duo and a defense that loves to whack opponents.

 7.  (nr) Los Banos (5-3): Tigers deserve lots of love after shutting out Pitman 14-0 to stay in CCC chase.

SMALL SCHOOLS

 1.  (1) Central Catholic (7-1): Raiders face final test of regular season, hosting Patterson Friday. It's time to tune up for the playoffs during the next two weeks.

 2.  (2) Escalon (8-0): Cougars posted sixth shutout of the season, 56-0 over Riverbank. One of the district's top games of the year Friday when Cougars visit MC.

 3.  (3) Modesto Christian (8-0): End of era approaches as MC QB Isaiah Burse prepares for his final showdown against Escalon.

 4.  (4) Hilmar (7-1): Seems like the 'Jackets are the forgotten team on the West Side. Coach Frank Marques and the boys will be ready for playoffs.

 5.  (5) Summerville (7-1): Back-to-back wins over Argonaut and Calaveras have the Bears on the cusp of winning MLL title. Gotta keep winning, however.

 6.  (6) Ripon (6-2): Indians are that team no one will want to meet in first round of the playoffs. They run well and love to hit, and they'd win the MLL crown.

 7.  (7) Argonaut (5-3): Big game with Calaveras on Friday. Mustangs need big win to boost confidence.
