The Turlock High football team got off to a slow start Friday night.
But after watching Golden Valley’s Isaiah Montanez take the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown, the Bulldogs shut out the Cougars the rest of the night.
Turlock quarterback Peyton Dunseth ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Bulldogs cruised past Golden Valley 36-6.
The Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 CCC) were stunned when Montanez took the opening kickoff all the way, but responded with 29 consecutive points to take a 29-6 halftime lead.
Danny Velazquez scored two TDs in the second quarter – on a one-yard run and an 87-yard pass from Dunseth – and the Bulldogs never looked back.
Dunseth added a five-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to close out the scoring.
The offense never scored for Golden Valley (3-3, 0-1 CCC).
