The Modesto Christian High football team watched Edison erase a two-touchdown early in the third quarter on Friday night.
The Crusaders responded with four consecutive touchdowns to put the game away en route to a 40-21 victory.
Modesto Christian led 14-0 after one quarter, but Edison pulled within 14-8 with a second-quarter touchdown. Edison then took a 15-14 lead on Jamahl Brown’s 23-yard TD run in the third quarter.
After that it was all Crusaders.

Bransen Reynolds hit Josthin Dawkins for an 59-yard TD pass, their second scoring connection of the night, to start the onslaught. Chris Brown scored on a 71-yard TD run, and then Paul Puuauli scored two long TD runs (42, 53) to put the game out of reach.
Modesto Christian totaled 357 yards rushing, with Brown going for 129 yards and Puuauli 124.
The Crusader defense also held Edison’s quarterback to 5-for-15 passing for 107 yards and an interception.
Next week, the Crusaders play at winless Mountain House before hosting unbeaten Hughson in Salida on Oct. 16.
