Three members of Manteca High’s offensive line put their name on the dotted line last week and committed to play football collegiately.
Billy Sharmoug (6-2, 299) and Isaac McClain (6-3, 290) will play next year at the University of Mary in Bismark, N.D., while Joe Eavenson (6-5, 312) will play at Minot (N.D.) State. Both universities are members of the Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The trio played a huge role in the success the Buffaloes’ running attack, which featured RB Alex Laurel running for 1,876 yards and 49 total touchdowns, and QB Joe Menzel completing 64 percent of his passes for 2,827 yards, 33 TDs and just nine interceptions.
The Buffs captured the school’s fourth Sac-Joaquin Section title and earned their first trip to the Northern California championship game.
Also signing last week was Davis High soccer goalie Haley Crook, who will play next season at California State University, Stanislaus, who were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament this past fall. In 16 games this year, Crook had 114 saves and a 1.97 goals-against average.
Another Stanislaus District goalie, Sonora High’s Andrew Klatt, signed to play at Cal Poly SLO.
