Kenny Smart, a senior kicker at Central Catholic High School who is on the verge of rewriting the state record book, has given his verbal commitment to play football at Harvard University, starting with the fall, 2014 semester.

As an Ivy League school, Harvard does not offer athletic scholarships.

Smart converted 105 of 106 conversion attempts as a junior and over two seasons as the Raiders’ starter has hit 169 of 178.

He also has made good on 11 field goal attempts and his 202 career points are only 59 short of the state record for kickers of 261, set by Jordan Congdon of San Diego’s St. Augustine. Congdon went on to kick at Nebraska and Southern California.
