The Sac-Joaquin Section will hold a news conference at its Lodi office Tuesday at 1 p.m. to announce potential further sanctions against the Franklin High of Stockton football program.
The section ruled three Yellowjackets players from American Samoa - Storm Macomber, Vince Maene and Bruce Seumanutafa - were ineligible after a six-month investigation into the illegal recruitment of players from American Samoa. But Franklin defied the section's ruling Friday night, starting the three players and playing them for nearly the entire game in a victory over Tracy.
Section commissioner Pete Saco said there will be a closed session of the section board of managers Tuesday morning, followed by the news briefing.
Saco said the playing of those three players was a "step back."
Never miss a local story.
"I think this might be the first time this has happened anywhere in the United States," he said. "I know it's the first time anything like this has happened in California."
