The Johansen High girls golf team had rolled through the Modesto Metro Conference, barely facing a challenge in 11 consecutive league wins.
Until Thursday afternoon.
Katie Canadas shot a 5-over 42 and Jill Mochizuki a 47 as Beyer stunned the Vikings 269-270 at Dryden Park. The Patriots improved to 8-4 in conference play, while Johansen fell to 11-1.
Allyssa Pena shot a 39 -- including a birdie on No. 6 -- to lead the Vikings.
MODESTO 265, ENOCHS 306, at Creekside -- Andrea Custer shot a 49 and Summer Uhrik a 50 as the Panthers toppled the Eagles. Devin Crossfield shot a 50, including two pars, for Enochs.
DAVIS 276, DOWNEY 338, at Modesto Muni -- Jessica Munoz (47) and Stephanie Prahser (49) led the Spartans (5-7 MMC) past the Knights (0-12 MMC). Jaclynn Jones shot a 53, including a birdie on the par-3 No. 8 hole, to lead Downey.
EAST UNION 232, OAKDALE 289, at Oakdale GCC -- Krysta Clark (43), Amanda Agostini (44) and Brionna Goulart (44) paced the Lancers (11-0 Valley Oak League) in their victory over the Mustangs (5-5) in cold, windy conditions.
HUGHSON 222, HILMAR 248, at Stevinson Ranch -- Cassie Anderson shot a 45, leading the Huskies (11-1 Valley Foothill League) past the Yellowjackets (3-9). Alicia Barros led Hilmar with a 48.
Anderson had a great round going until she hit the 387-yard par-4 ninth hole -- the final hole -- where she took a 10.
CENTRAL CATHOLIC 196, MODESTO CHRISTIAN 237, at Modesto Muni -- Jessica Ferlmann shot a 47 and Kirsten Kim a 48 as the first-place Raiders (12-0 VFL) beat the Crusaders (6-6). Presli Pilati led MC with a 50.

DOWNEY 13, ENOCHS 4, at Beyer -- Tim Richard scored six goals and Jared Schanen four as the Knights (4-4 MMC) beat the Eagles (0-8). Cole Carroll scored three goals for Enochs.
JOHANSEN 14, MODESTO 4, at Johansen -- Brad Fuller scored seven goals and Sean Towers five as the Vikings (18-2, 8-0) beat the Panthers (6-2 MMC).
CERES 18, DAVIS 13, at Ceres -- Kevin Fliflet scored six goals and teammates George Polovin, Shane Nunes and Chris Rossi each scored three as the Bulldogs got past the Spartans. Tyler Bolton scored six goals for Davis.

DOWNEY 14, ENOCHS 13 (OT), at Beyer -- Lupe Morales scored her third goal with 42 seconds remaining in overtime, leading the Knights (1-7 MMC) past the Eagles (1-7). Marina Camarena led Downey with four goals, while Enochs' Nicole Stammer had six goals.
JOHANSEN 14, MODESTO 5, at Johansen -- Sisters Taylor and Jodi Hanson each scored four goals as the Vikings (16-5, 8-0) cruised past the second-place Panthers (6-2 MMC). Erica Austin scored three goals for Modesto.
DAVIS 10, CERES 4, at Ceres -- Meghan Devlin scored six goals to lead the Spartans past the Bulldogs.
MODESTO 6, JOHANSEN 1, at Johansen -- The Panthers (9-0 MMC) dominated their ninth consecutive MMC match, but when Vikings' No. 3 singles player Kristin Williams won, it was the first time all season Modesto dropped an individual match.
BEYER 5, DOWNEY 2, at Downey -- The Patriots (6-3) got past the Knights (2-7) in a competitive contest that saw four of seven matches go three sets.
DAVIS 4, ENOCHS 3, at Enochs -- The Spartans (1-8) got a big victory from the No. 3 doubles team of Andrea Dell'Osso and Karen Lion, sealing Davis' first MMC victory of the season.
CERES 5, WESTON RANCH 0, at Ceres -- The Harden sisters, McKenzy and Logan, each won in straight sets as the Bulldogs (7-2, 6-2) rolled past the Cougars.
CERES 5, SIERRA 2, at Ceres -- Danish foreign exchange student Nick Hansen had a goal and two assists in the second half as the Bulldogs (4-4 VOL) came back to stop the Timberwolves (3-5 VOL).
"Nick was our sparkplug," Ceres coach Randy Cerny said. "He had an outstanding second half."
MANTECA 1, CENTRAL VALLEY 1, at Manteca -- Jesus Perez scored in the first half and CV's Pedro Gomez tied it in the second.
WATERFORD 3, DELHI 0, at Waterford -- Carlos Navarette scored his 39th and 40th goals for the Wildcats (13-0-4, 6-0-2 Southern League) and had an assist.
RIVERBANK 2, RIPON CHR. 0, at Riverbank -- Vicente Vigil and Juan Luna scored for the Bruins, whose goalies only had to make three saves.
BIG VALLEY CHRISTIAN 7, MILLENNIUM 0, at Modesto -- Quinn Harter and Andres Guerra each scored three goals as the Lions (12-2-1, 2-0 Harvest Christian League) shut out Millennium of Tracy (2-5-3, 1-1-1).
