Fathauer snags 36-hole lead in North Carolina

Adam Hadwin fired a 9-under 63 in the opening round Thursday and was two strokes clear of the field when play was suspended due to darkness at the Chiquita Classic.

Davidson, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Derek Fathauer shot his second consecutive 66 on Friday, which gave him a 2-shot lead heading into the weekend at the Chiquita Classic.

Fathauer, who has never won on the Web.com Tour despite coming close numerous times this season, finished 36 holes at 12-under-par 132. Fathauer nearly won the Nova Scotia Open earlier this year, but he finished runner-up after falling to Roger Sloan in a playoff.

Greg Chalmers fired a second-round, 7-under 65 and he is tied for second at 10-under 134. He is joined there by Scott Pinckney (68) at River Run Country Club.

First-round leader Adam Hadwin shot an even-par 72 to fall into a tie for fifth at 9-under 135 with Kyle Reifers (68) and John Peterson (70). Tom Hoge shot the low round of the day with a 63 and he holds sole possession of eighth place at 8-under 136 and he is four shots off the lead heading into Saturday.
