Cal State Stanislaus faced a tall order Friday night against the 14th-ranked UC San Diego women’s volleyball team, and didn’t wince.
But after taking the first set, the Warriors got untracked as the Tritons completed a four-set victory over Stanislaus 20-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-21 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association opener.
Blair Ehrlich (nine kills) and Lindsay Skadeland (eight kills) led the Warriors, who fell to 0-5 overall.
Ehrlich, who’s from San Diego, finished the first set with a kill as Stanislaus put together a couple of five-point runs.
Caitlin Brenton and Danielle Dahle had 15 kills apiece to lead UCSD (3-2, 1-0 CCAA).
The Warriors play at Cal Poly Pomona tonight before their home opener next Friday at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Jazzlynn Satkamp scored her first goal to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead at halftime, and Cassandra Arteaga and Tyler Fenton each added goals.
Illiana Cajias assisted Elizabeth Amaya’s goal to finish the shutout for the Pirates, who host Ohlone at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Pirates went 1-1 for the day after losing their first game 17-5 to Golden West.
MJC (4-3) will play De Anza and Cabrillo today.
