A seventh-grader from Modesto won a girls state wrestling title last month after finishing third in the country in her weight class.
Rory Coscia, 14, was crowned the 112-pound champion after winning every match at the state meet in Vallejo.
In Michigan a few weeks earlier, Rory won five matches at 110 pounds to finish third.
ory has a 4.0 GPA at Glick Middle School, but wrestles for a team in Salida. Her record against girls was 37-3.
"Rory is unique in that she has athletic ability and strength that most kids, especially girls her age, simply don't have," said Dan Glenn, her coach.
