Manteca's Haapanen 2nd in hammer throw

Manteca’s Amy Haapanen, ranked sixth in the nation in the hammer throw, threw 67.09 meters (220 feet, 1 inch) en route to a second-place finish Sunday at the Pacific Association USATF Championships at College of San Mateo.

Manteca’s Amy Haapanen, ranked sixth in the nation in the hammer throw, threw 67.09 meters (220 feet, 1 inch) en route to a second-place finish Sunday at the Pacific Association USATF Championships at College of San Mateo. Haapanen, a graduate of East Union High and a former field-events MVP of the Big West Conference at UC Santa Barbara, was beaten only by fifth-ranked Aubrey Baxter (222-8).
