ACHIEVEMENT: Urrutia, 12, helped the Lamorinda Monarchs 12-under baseball team win the New Era National Youth Baseball Classic title on Aug. 29 in Cordova, Tenn., near Memphis. Lamorinda defeated Tomateros de California 2-1 for the New Era championship. The tournament was aired on the MLB Network. Urrutia played left field and saw some time as catcher and pitcher for the the Bay Area-based team as it won seven tournaments from March to August, including the AAU Nationals in Orlando, Fla. Urrutia joined the team in February, hitting .313 with 20 RBIs in 96 at-bats. A 5-foot, 8-inch right-hander, Urrutia pitched 11ª innings with a WHIP of 1.29. His personal highlight -- going 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple against the Banditos of Texas in a 7-4 semifinal in Tennessee.

QUOTABLE: "I love traveling for baseball. We stayed in two different rental houses in Florida. We went twice in one month. I love being with my teammates. We'll go back to Florida next year as 13-year-olds and we'll be playing on the Braves' spring training field."
