MANTECA — It will be brother against brother Thursday for the Valley Oak League singles championship at Manteca High.
The host Buffaloes boast both finalists: senior and No. 1 singles Mostafa Aniss, and junior and No. 2 singles Yassen Aniss.
The brothers won their semifinals in straight sets Tuesday. Mostafa beat Ceres' Mike Hundal 6-1 — Hundal retired prior to the second set — and Yassen beat Sonora's Erik Segerstrom 7-5, 6-1.
"They've never faced each other in a real match," said Manteca coach Frank Fontana, whose Buffaloes won the VOL at 14-0. "They've practiced against each other, but this will be different."

The VOL doubles tournament also will be played Thursday.
ESCALON 7, WATERFORD 0, at Escalon — Daniel Thompson and Staci Gentry each won singles matches as the Cougars (12-0) toppled the Wildcats, sealing the Trans-Valley League title for Escalon. The Cougars open the Section Division III team postseason next Tuesday.
BEYER 4, DOWNEY 0, at Beyer — Jennie Marshall scored her 100th career goal, and had her eighth hat trick of the season, as the Patriots (21-2-1, 13-0-1 MMC) rolled past the Knights (7-12-1, 5-8-1).
MODESTO 3, JOHANSEN 2, at Modesto — The Panthers (11-9-1, 7-7) got their third goal with five minutes left in the game on a free kick by Apryl Whitney, then held off a furious rally by the Vikings (3-16-5, 2-10-2) in snapping a four-game losing streak.
ENOCHS 1, DAVIS 0, at Davis — Ashley Davis scored on a breakaway in the 78th minute, firing a shot from 30 yards away over the goalie's head and into the net, as the Eagles (6-6-2 MMC) beat the Spartans (5-7-2).
PITMAN 12, LOS BANOS 0, at Turlock — Donya Olivera scored three goals and Hannah Verschelden and Krista Messer added two each as the Pride (9-1-1 CCC) hammered the Tigers (0-11 CCC). Kersten Dubert had five assists for Pitman, which led 6-0 at halftime.
HUGHSON 3, RIPON CHRISTIAN 0, at Hughson — Bailey Tucker scored two goals as the Huskies (10-0-1) shut out the Knights. Hughson plays Ripon at home today in a battle for first place in the Trans-Valley League. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
RIPON 2, MODESTO CHRISTIAN 0, at Ripon — Ranae McFadden and Callie Jacobs scored goals as the Indians (15-4-1, 11-1) beat the Crusaders (6-4-1 TVL). Ripon held MC without a shot in the second half.
ESCALON 3, RIVERBANK 1, at Escalon — Amanda Franklin had a hat trick, with all three goals in the first half, as the Cougars (8-9-1, 7-6) beat the Bruins (1-12 TVL).
LE GRAND 5, DENAIR 3, at Denair — Denise Lopez scored three goals and Jennifer Hansen added two as the Bulldogs beat the Coyotes in a TVL match.
Yadira Garcia scored two goals for Denair.
TURLOCK CHR. 4, WATERFORD 1, at Waterford — Emily Mac-Laren scored two of her three goals in the second half to help the Eagles pull away from the Wildcats in a Southern League match that was tied at the half. Zaylin Miller scored for Waterford.
BIG VALLEY CHRISTIAN 5, JIM ELLIOT CHRISTIAN 2, at Modesto — Alyssa Hawkinson and Megan Palmer each scored two goals to lead the Lions (3-8-2, 1-5-2) past Jim Elliot Christian.
VOL CHAMPIONSHIPS, at Saddle Creek — Sonora's Kevin Rei shot a 79 for medalist honors. He was followed by the East Union duo of John Ott and Kyle Harmon, each of whom shot 80s. East Union (425) won the team championship, followed by Sierra (434) and Sonora (444).
TVL CHAMPIONSHIPS, at Lockeford Springs — Ripon Christian shot a team score of 434, led by Brandon McCracken's 84, claiming the tournament title and the league title. Escalon, led by 84s from Austin Jackson and Rick Mullen, fired a team score of 441 to take second place.
Ripon's Zach Smith was the medalist with an 80, followed by teammate Daniel Cardoza's 81.
