Justin Jones supplied the pitching and Eddie McGrath the offense as Oakdale High defeated Tokay of Lodi 6-3 on Monday in the first round of the Tokay-Lodi Easter Tournament at Stockton Ballpark.
Jones struck out seven. McGrath hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third and a two-run single in the fourth.
The win sets up a big game tonight for the Mustangs (9-2-1), against unbeaten Franklin (7-0) of Elk Grove at 7 p.m.
EAST UNION 6, TURLOCK 0 -- Teddy Anderson pitched a two-hitter and struck out six to lift the Lancers (6-2). The Bulldogs (7-5) didn't get a runner past second base. Garret Fischer hit a two-run double, and Wade Morten launched a two-run homer.
FRANKLIN-ELK GROVE 9, JOHANSEN 1 -- The Vikings (4-8) managed only a home run by Mike Sorensen in their loss to the unbeaten Wildcats.
ESCALON 13, SUMMERVILLE 0 -- Charlie McDonald struck out six in four innings and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and the first eight runs by the Cougars (8-4) were unearned in their win over the Bears (1-6).
RIPON CHRISTIAN 6, ORESTIMBA 4 -- Cody Prins struck out 14 to lift the Knights (5-7) over the Warriors (2-6).
SUMMERVILLE 9, DELHI 7 -- Taylor Gold's 4-for-4 day included a triple and double for the Bears (1-5).
DENAIR 4, GUSTINE 3 -- Jarod Martinez scored the winning run on a dropped third strike with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the seventh as the Coyotes (7-2) beat the Redskins (6-4).
TURLOCK CHRISTIAN 15, RIVERBANK 5 -- Jordan Buchanan keyed a nine-run second with a bases-loaded triple, sending the Eagles to a win over the Bruins.
WATERFORD 7, TURLOCK CHRISTIAN 6, at Denair -- Kendra Curtis stole home in the bottom of the seventh to give the Wildcats (5-3) a win over the Eagles (3-8) in the Denair Tournament.
