I was quite dismayed and angered by The Modesto Bee's coverage snub of the Sierra Invitational track meet on March 8 at Modesto Junior College.
One would reasonably surmise that a high school athletic event featuring 35 schools and an estimated 600 athletes would be newsworthy, especially if said event included more than 20 schools within The Bee's readership area.
Shame on The Bee for denying area student-athletes the coverage they deserve for breaking six meet records and setting several marks that are among the best in the state for 2008.
How hard would it have been to include several photos with lengthened captions summarizing the meet?
Apparently, sporting results using implements not made of leather are not fit for The Bee's paper print.
