RIVERBANK -- Aly Hoffman just missed hitting for the cycle Wednesday in leading the Hughson High softball team to a 7-4 win over Riverbank.
Hoffman singled in the first, blasted a solo homer in the third and tripled in the fifth. She missed out on a possible double that would have completed the cycle when her deep fly ball to right field was caught in front of the fence in the sixth inning.
Hoffman also handled the pitching for the Huskies (4-3-2, 1-0 Trans-Valley League), allowing the Bruins just three hits.
Jesse Sill had two hits and two RBIs for Hughson. Heather Carey had a homer and two RBIs for Riverbank.

TURLOCK 3, MANTECA 2, at Turlock -- With a runner on third and two outs in the top of the seventh, shortstop Sergio Perez of the Bulldogs (4-4) threw out a runner at first on a one-hopper that ricocheted off the third baseman. Willie Galdamez threw a five-hitter for Turlock.
Manteca (4-5-1) coach Neil MacDannald said, "Toby (Fox) threw well today and gave us a great chance, but we just gave away too much today. I take my hat off to their pitcher, he threw a really good game, keeping the ball down."
HUGHSON 10, MODESTO CHR. 7, at Hughson -- Jake Etcheverry was 3 for 4 with two doubles for the victorious Huskies (4-3, 1-0 TVL) and Zack Adams doubled twice, scored three runs and had three RBIs.
Hughson turned three double plays.
ATWATER 14, CHAVEZ 5, at Atwater -- Austin Aragon struck out seven in four innings of work to help the Falcons (4-5) earn the win. Brock Pisacco was 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Lance Button had four RBIs, including a two-run single in the seventh that made it 7-0, and Charles Garcia homered.
CENTRAL CATHOLIC 5, GUSTINE 0, at Gustine -- Stephanie Manseau got the Raiders started in the Western Athletic Conference game by scoring with a shot from 40 yards out, and Katelyn Ketchum's header made it 2-0.
HILMAR 4, LIVINGSTON 1, at Livingston -- Haylee Bettencourt scored twice for the Yellowjackets (11-2, 1-0 WAC) and Tiffany Castro had a goal and an assist.
RIPON CHR. 174, HUGHSON 211, at River Oaks GC -- Brandon McCracken's 2-over-par 33 led a balanced Eagles (4-1, 3-1 TVL) attack whose highest score was a 36. Donnie Flora fired a 33 for the Huskies (3-1 TVL).
ESCALON 229, MODESTO CHR. 246, at Oakdale G&CC -- The Cougars (7-0, 4-0 TVL) defeated the Crusaders thanks to balance: Ricky Mullen led the way with an 8-over-par 44 and the highest score was a 48.
Zack Strickland of MC (2-5, 2-3) was medalist with a 42.
