Downey High's boys basketball team remained undefeated in the Modesto Metro Conference with a 52-43 victory over visiting Enochs on Friday night.
Brett Butler and Joe Napoleon led a balanced attack with 12 points each to help the Knights (10-4, 4-0) top the Eagles.
Downey coach Eli Bynum said Marcus Bell of Enochs (3-12, 0-3) controlled the inside with 15 points, double-digit rebounds and several blocks.
The Knights are one game ahead of Modesto. The teams meet next Friday night at Modesto.

MODESTO 58, JOHANSEN 51, at Johansen -- Nate Jackson scored 11 of his game-high 16 points in the first half, including three 3-pointers, as the Panthers (7-7, 3-1 MMC) took a 28-20 halftime lead over the Vikings (7-9, 1-2). Modesto's 6-foot-6-inch Josh Jones had 15 rebounds and seven blocks.
Central California Conference
PITMAN 61, BUHACH COLONY 32, at Pitman -- The Pride (12-5, 2-1) built a 38-20 halftime lead over the Thunder (6-11, 0-2) behind Austin Keaton and Juan Flores. Keaton scored 15 of his game-high 17 points and Flores 11 of his 14 in the first half.
MERCED 74, LOS BANOS 54, at Los Banos -- Allen Huddleston Jr. had 13 points in the third period and 26 for the game in leading the Bears (11-7, 3-0) over the Tigers (13-6, 2-1). Huddleston made four 3-pointers. Phil Etcheverry made three 3-pointers and led Los Banos with 16 points.
Western Athletic Conference
PATTERSON 69, LIVINGSTON 47, at Patterson -- Felix Mapanda set season highs with 25 points and 18 rebounds, and the Tigers (13-3, 4-0) outscored the Wolves (5-11, 2-3) 37-18 in the second half. Patterson posts Ronyeh Ellington and Robert Kreger combined for 25 points and 15 rebounds.
HILMAR 41, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 39, at Hilmar -- Quinton McCown had 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks to help the Yellowjackets (11-5, 3-1) top the Raiders (12-5, 2-2).
Valley Oak League
SIERRA 60, MANTECA 51 (OT), at Sierra -- The Timberwolves (13-3, 3-1) held the Buffaloes (6-11, 2-2) to one shot in outscoring them 9-0 in the overtime period.
"Their big guys fouling out didn't hurt us either," Sierra coach Scott Thomason said.
Christian Williams had 24 points for Sierra and Nick Scheible 19 for Manteca.
WESTON RANCH 44, EAST UNION 43, at Manteca -- James Nunnally scored with three seconds left to cap a 19-point night and lift the Cougars (13-5, 4-0) over the Lancers (6-11, 1-3).
East Union led by one with 10 seconds to play but missed a free throw. Weston Ranch came up with the loose ball -- after it touched several hands -- and Nunnally received a long pass underneath the basket and scored an uncontested layup.
HUGHSON 65, RIPON CHRISTIAN 52, at Ripon Christian -- After a first half that ended 32-32, Kenny Sullivan scored 12 points in the second half to lead the Huskies (10-3, 2-2) over the Knights (3-13, 0-4). Sullivan finished with 14 points, and teammate Kyle Birchall led all scorers with 18.
Matt DeJong of RC had 10 of his 11 points in the first half and teammate David Vander Schaaf eight of his 16.
ESCALON 55, RIVERBANK 51, at Riverbank -- James Harrison led the Cougars (5-11, 2-2) over the Bruins (6-11, 1-3) with 25 points, including nine in the first quarter and two big free throws in the fourth quarter. Francisco Pineda scored 18 points for Riverbank.
Mother Lode League
BRET HARTE 53, CALAVERAS 32, at Bret Harte -- The Bullfrogs (10-5, 2-2) played man-to-man defense and limited the Redskins (5-10, 0-4) to eight baskets. Leading 29-21 after three quarters, Bret Harte made 14 of 21 free-throw attempts in the fourth period to pull away. Brett Downey scored eight of his game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter for the Bullfrogs.
MARIPOSA 81, WATERFORD 57, at Waterford -- Cody Wichmann had 23 points and Tim Oswald 21 (four 3-pointers) in leading the Grizzlies (14-4, 5-0) over the Wildcats (8-8, 2-3). Jordan Logan led Waterford with 21 points.
DENAIR 47, TURLOCK CHRISTIAN 44, at Turlock Christian -- Jarod Martinez of the Coyotes (9-8, 4-1) intercepted a long pass with about a second left, then made 1 of 2 free throws to conclude the scoring.
On the inbounds play, TC (5-10, 2-2) passed it to halfcourt, where its last-gasp shot hit the backboard.
Mason Wooten scored 13 points and Jared Wilcox 12 for Denair, which trailed 20-14 at the half and then outscored TC 16-11 in the third.
"We came back in the third quarter and took that momentum and took care of the ball," Denair coach Curtis Wooten said.
Eli Davis scored 25 points for the Eagles.

BIG VALLEY CHR. 69, CALVARY TEMPLE 46, at Calvary Temple -- The one-two punch of Jared Lunsford (19 points) and Jordan Hogan (15) led the Lions (13-3, 3-0) over the Warriors (5-6, 1-2).
