MERCED -- The College of the Siskiyous football team rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat Merced College 30-21 Saturday.
The Eagles (4-4, 1-2 Mid Empire Conference) made it 21-10 on a 24-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter, then outscored the Blue Devils 20-0 in the second half.
They took the lead for good on Matt Jackson's 11-yard touchdown pass to Darius Davis with 4:52 left in the third quarter.
After Siskiyous opened the scoring on a 1-yard run by Jackson, Merced (3-5, 2-1) rallied as Reid Herchenbach threw TD passes of 5 yards to DeAnte Sanders and 20 yards to Garrett Turner and Jon Breland recovered an Eagles fumble in the end zone.
Jackson threw for 331 yards and three TDs. Herchenbach was 18 of 26 for 168 yards with two interceptions and David Del Toro ran nine times for 69 yards.
