Krysta Clark fired an even-par 37 and the rest of the Lancers shot 45 or better as EU (12-0, 8-0 VOL) defeated Weston Ranch 203-419 at Manteca Park GC. The 203 bettered the Lancers' previous best, a 210 two weeks ago.Besides Clark's steady play, Amanda Agostini birdied the first two holes (she double-bogeyed the final hole) in a 40 and Ellen Parker birdied the final two holes for a 41.
HUGHSON 143, PATTERSON 162, at River Oaks -- Erica Ballard fired a career-best 1-under 26 to help the Huskies (7-1) take sole possession of second place in the Valley Foothill League. She birdied the 85-yard No. 5, using a half-swing of a pitching wedge and sinking a seven-foot putt, and parred the other eight.
PATTERSON 2, ORESTIMBA 0, at Orestimba -- The Tigers (13-2, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference) scored twice in the final eight minutes, first Rafael Alcauter on a penalty kick and then Michael Laines with two minutes remaining.
Boys Cross Country
RIVERBANK WINS, at Legion Park -- Riverbank easily defeated three Trans-Valley League foes, led by German Fernandez's 15 minutes, 45 seconds for 3.1 miles.
TURLOCK WINS TWICE, at Buhach Colony -- Andrew Ray of Buhach clocked 16:48 and won the 3-mile race by 1 minute, 29 seconds. But a deeper Turlock team -- led by a 2-3 finish by Jacob Matson (18:17) and Cristian Valdovinos (18:50) -- defeated both Buhach and Merced.
Girls Cross Country
BUHACH WINS TWICE, at Buhach Colony -- Sable Browning of Merced won in 19:23 on the 3-mile course, but a 2-3 finish by Jennifer Ramos (20:52) and Laura McIntosh (21:20) helped Buhach defeat Turlock and Merced. Coach Patricia Ortega said this is the first time Buhach's girls have been 4-0 in league in cross country.
ESCALON WINS, at Legion Park -- Escalon defeated Riverbank and Ripon in a TVL meet, led by the 1-2 punch of Pearl Rivers (20:37) and Cynthia Lopez (21:49) on the 5K Legion Park course.
MODESTO 3, BEYER 0, at Modesto -- Ashley Nickell had eight kills and led the way for the Panthers (6-0 MMC) as they prevailed 25-21, 25-9, 25-10 in their first match in their newly remodeled gym. Karen Wall had seven aces and 14 assists.
RIPON 3, RIVERBANK 0, at Ripon -- Meredith Perkins had 30 digs for Ripon (11-4, 5-0 TVL) in a 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 win.
