A Modesto man got quite a surprise when he opened a package delivered to his home — 13 pounds of marijuana.

The pot, which was concealed in 10 canisters and surrounded by coffee grounds to mask the odor, was delivered to his northwest Modesto home Thursday by the U.S. Postal Service, said Modesto police Lt. Jolene Gonzales.

The man immediately called police. Investigators picked up the package of drugs and are trying to determine who sent it and for whom it was intended.

There was no return address on the package, but officers have learned it had been shipped from Chicago.
