A south Modesto man is lucky to be alive, according to authorities who say the man was shot in the neck and the cheek last night but that the bullets only grazed him.
The man was treated and released from a hospital, said Sgt. Vince Kimbrough with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. He said investigators believe the shooting was gang related. The victim’s name was not released.
The man, whose age was not available but who was described as being in his 20s, was walking on the 600 block of Imperial Avenue about 11 p.m. last night when he was shot, Kimbrough said.
The shooting follows two drive-by shootings last week in south Modesto. Three people were hurt in those shootings, none of them with life-threatening injuries.
