RIVERBANK -- A noontime bomb threat led to the evacuation of Cardoza Middle School and the cancellation of classes for the remainder of the day.
Rosa Solorio, a secretary at Riverbank Unified School District, confirmed that Cardoza was evacuated.
“We’re asking school officials to check for anything suspicious, and assuming we get the all clear, students will be released to their classrooms,” Police Chief Tim Beck said.
The threatening call came into the office at the middle school, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The students were moved from the school to a field and then to the Riverbank Community Center. At mid-afternoon, school officials decided against sending the children back to class and parents began picking them.
An earlier report that Riverbank High School had been evacuated was erroneous. The high school was not evacuated, and it was not affected by the Cardoza closing.
