MERCED - Four Sureno gang members were arrested Sunday in connection with the attempted killing of two teenagers last week, according to authorities.
Deputy Tom MacKenzie, Merced County Sheriff's Department spokesman, said detectives served three search warrants early Sunday morning, following up on the Wednesday afternoon shooting at Jones Road and Santa Fe Drive in Winton.
Juan Torres, 22 of Winton, along with two teen-age boys and a teen girl were arrested and booked into Merced County Jail and Merced County Juvenile Hall on attempted murder and gang enhancement charges, Detective Sgt. Jason Goins of the Major Crimes Unit said.
All the accused were booked without bail.

The investigation started when Arturo Morfin was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of shooting at two teenagers who were retrieving a baseball that sailed over a backyard fence near the BNSF Railway tracks.
