A 25-year-old Patterson man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his wife's uncle this afternoon, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department says.
A family dispute led to the stabbing, department spokesman Royjindar Singh said.
The uncle, 45, of Patterson showed up at his niece's home in the 500 block of Henley Parkway at 12:30 p.m. The woman's husband, Kevin Easter, 25, greeted him at the door with a knife, chased him across the street and stabbed him once or twice, Singh said.
The uncle, whose name was not released, was able to drive to a Cal-Fire station in Patterson, where he received first aid. He was flown to a Modesto hospital, where he is in critical condition.
As detectives interviewed family members at the hospital, they were told Easter had called someone to help him flee. Investigators passed a description of the vehicle along to Patterson patrol deputies, who were able to stop the vechile and arrest Easter.
