CERES — Police officers apprehended a Central Valley High School student who brought a gun to the campus this morning, a Ceres Unified School District official said.
District spokesman Jay Simmonds said the student did not have ammunition and the gun was inoperable.
“We think it’s just a kid who’s not thinking straight,” Simmonds said.
Police locked down the campus about 11 a.m. when they discovered the gun. The campus reopened at 12:20 p.m.

“Everybody’s safe,” Simmonds said.
Simmonds did not have details about what led police to the student. He said no other students were searched for weapons.
The student could be expelled, Simmonds said.
