John Turchon, customer service director for the Gallo Center for the Arts, will leave his job to take a similar post in Texas, The Bee learned today.
Turchon said his last day at the Gallo Center will be Sept. 20, one week before the new performing arts center downtown has its gala opening event. Turchon will become the customer service director at the Dallas Theater Center.
Turchon, who joined the Gallo Center in July 2006, said he was recruited for his new job by a headhunter.
At the Gallo Center, he set up the box office and hired the ticket sales staff. He also hired staff ushers and trained them and the volunteer ushers.
Turchon becomes the latest Gallo Center official to leave the project before it launches. Executive Director Brian McCurdy and his wife, Marketing Director Carol Anne Muncaster, left last summer. Maki Hsieh-Leonard, who replaced Muncaster last fall, resigned in July.
