Modesto Junior College hosts High School Orchestra Day on Nov. 12, gathering six groups from high schools from around Stanislaus County to perform 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
The event features performances by each orchestra and is free and open to the public.
Participating high schools include: Downey, directed by Joanne Neuffer; Turlock, led by Donna Harrison; Pitman, led by Don Grishaw; and Davis, directed by Dan Bryan.
Two directors and their orchestras are joining the event this year: Dave Boyatt at Enochs and Jennifer Jim at Modesto High School. The Mill by Raff, arranged by Pochon, will also be performed by an ensemble of the music teachers.
The MJC Fiddle Duo, Hali Pekron and Veronica Rogers, will present a medley of fiddle tunes.
The event is at the Main Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on MJC's East Campus. 575-6646.
