Modesto resident Lindsay Pearce stars as Belle in Playhouse Merced's production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" Sept. 3-20.

Pearce played Laurie in "Oklahoma!" at Modesto Junior College, where she is working on her associate of arts degree.

"Beauty and the Beast" is based on the 1991 Disney animated film and includes such songs as "Be Our Guest" and "Gaston."

Directed and designed by Corey Strauss, the show features a cast of 25.
