Pack up a picnic dinner and a blanket and take the family out to Stevenot Winery for Shakespeare under the stars.
Murphys Creek Theatre is staging a modern dress version of "The Merchant of Venice." The comedy centers on a much-abused Jewish moneylender who demands a pound of flesh from a Christian merchant who defaults on a loan.
The play is known for Portia's famous line "The quality of mercy is not strained."
Light snacks, desserts, Stevenot wine by the glass or bottle, and nonalcoholic beverages are available for purchase at each performance. Chairs are available for rent for those who don't want to sit on the grass.
