BAREFOOT IN THE PARK

This staging of Neil Simon's classic romantic comedy about newlyweds is nearly as charming as the 1967 movie starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. The bride and groom are madly in love, but they have very different personalities — Paul is a serious lawyer and Corie is a free-spirited bohemian. Modesto Junior College theater instructor Mike Lynch gives a noteworthy performance as the couple's eccentric neighbor.

Through May 17 at Stage 3 Theatre, 208 S. Green St., Sonora. 536-1778 or www.stage3.org.

LOOKING OVER THE PRESIDENT'S SHOULDER
½

Dwight Dean Mahabir is an engaging storyteller in this one-man show about a real-life butler who served four

presidents. Anything but a dry lecture on American history, the show offers fascinating facts about the personalities of Herbert Hoover, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The production includes a slide show of key historical moments and musical clips that set the era.

Extended through May 10 at Townsend Opera Players' Little Opera Hall, 611 H St., Modesto. 756-1758.
