MUSE SHOWS PAINTINGS, GLASSWORK
The Chartreuse Muse Gallery and Art School in Modesto is featuring the expressionist paintings of Valrie Jensen, contemporary painting by Christian Hali and glasswork by Mira Woodworth from Sept. 1 through Oct. 18.
The opening reception is 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

TWO TO TEACH TANGO
Tango master Hugo (Gato) Valdez, who danced in the films "Evita" and "Tango Lesson," and his partner Andrea Monti will dance and teach in Modesto next month.

SENIOR DIVAS
Modesto's most outrageous senior vocal group, the Senior Divas, performs songs of the 1930s and '40s on Sept. 6.
The concert is at 2 p.m. at the Modesto Junior College Recital Hall, 435 College Ave. Performers Marilyn Borden (of sister act Teensy and Weensy on the "I Love Lucy" show), Shirley Hausner and Elsie Merenda aim to show that retirement and rocking chairs don't have to go together.
The women will be accompanied by the JBJ Trio, pianist John Wyatt, drummer Barbara Borden and bassist John Ady.

CSUS PROFESSOR IN AWARD-WINNING SPECIAL
California State University, Stanislaus, professor Samuel Regalado is featured in "Roberto Clemente," a public television special about the legendary Major League Baseball Hall of Famer.
The PBS program, which aired nationally in April, received the National Council of La Raza's ALMA Award as the outstanding made-for-television documentary. The Aug. 17 awards program was filmed in Pasadena.
Regalado, an historian recognized for his expertise on the impact of Latin professional baseball players in the United States, is featured in the highlight clip of the awards program that will air on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
