 1  Blind faith

See the rebirth of '90s group Blind Melon. Known for its classic-rock- meets-grunge-rock sound, the band had a No. 1 Billboard hit with "No Rain." Almost as popular was the video for the song, with its optimistic dancing "Bee Girl." But in 1995, the group's fortunes came to a tragic end when lead singer Shannon Hoon died of a drug overdose at the age of 28. The group officially disbanded in 1999, only to regroup in 2007 with new singer Travis Warren. In April, the band released its new album, "For My Friends."

 2  George Burns

Don McArt performs the one-man show "Say Goodnight, Gracie," about world-famous centenarian George Burns. The show covers Burns' impoverished youth in New York, his marriage to Gracie Allen and his storied career in vaudeville, movies, radio and television. Includes video of the real Burns.

 3  American classic

Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama "The Glass Menagerie" is revered as a masterwork of modern theater. Told from the memory of narrator Tom Whitfield, the reluctant breadwinner of a family abandoned by the father, the play follows faded matriarch Amanda and her painfully shy daughter Laura.

 4  Black gospel

The Williams Brothers have recorded 18 Billboard top-10 gospel albums since 1960. Based in Mississippi, the group has performed in some of the nation's most famous concert halls, including Madison Square Garden, The Apollo Theatre, The Grand Ole Opry, The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and The House of Blues.

 5  Air show

Ooh and aah at the aerial stunts at the Modesto Airport Day. The annual event features aerobatic performances by stunt pilots, family activities and more. See Rob Harrison the Tumbling Bear in his Zlin 50LX and Doug Jardine in his Sukhoi 26 MX. The event also includes displays of military planes, helicopter and airplane rides, tours and a classic-car show.

 6  Froggy fun

Hop on down to help celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Mark Twain-inspired event features family fun, entertainment, livestock exhibits, a carnival and, of course, the famous frog-jump contest. The musical headliner, Mark Wills, will play May 18.

 7  Laughing matter

Yuk it up at the World of Laughs Comedy Show starring Kirk McHenry and Frank L. Lucero. East Bay product McHenry has appeared on "Comic View," NBC and Showtime. Los Angeles native Lucerno has appeared on "Punchline" and "Que Loco" and toured with Paul Rodriquez. Opening will be "Phat" Joe Mendoza with guest performer Tapan.
