Peterson: Seen and Heard

  • A couple of hours after the hearing concluded, deputies evacuated the courthouse because of a bomb threat. According to Stanislaus County sheriff's spokesman Kelly Huston, a worker in the criminal division of the clerk's office received a telephone call from a man about 1:30 p.m. "He asked if the media was still there for the Scott Peterson hearing. She said, 'I think so.' He said, 'Good! Tell them to turn their cameras on, because I'm going to blow the place up in 20 minutes.'" About 3 p.m., people were allowed to re-enter the building. Authorities will seek to trace the phone call. "We've become somewhat accustomed to these," Huston said.

  • Scott Peterson asked to leave the courtroom just before a forensic pathologist took the stand to provide details about the remains of Laci and Conner Peterson.

Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, left the courtroom when questioning turned to the site where her daughter's body was found. Brent Rocha, Laci Peterson's brother, stared straight ahead, occasionally fidgeting during Detective Phil Owen's testimony. Laci Peterson's stepfather, Ron Grantski, appeared to watch Scott Peterson intently during the testimony.
