A Sacramento judge will preside over the trial of accused cop killer Columbus Allen Jr. II, which has been moved to the capital city from Modesto.
Accused cop killer Columbus Allen Jr. II will be tried in Sacramento County, a Stanislaus County judge ruled Thursday. He could face the death penalty if he's convicted in the February 2006 slaying of California Highway Patrol officer Earl Scott.
Attorneys wrapped up arguments Tuesday over a motion to throw out evidence against Columbus Allen Jr. II. Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Hurl Johnson must decide whether police searches of Allen's house, computer and cell phone records were valid and whether that evidence can be presented at Allen's trial.
