The Bee recently spent six weeks reporting on vehicle theft in Stanislaus County, which, according to state and insurance industry statistics, is the nation's car theft capital.
On a per-capita basis, more vehicles were stolen here over the past two years than in any other U.S. metropolitan region.
The Bee provided extensive news coverage this week on the problem and possible solutions, and those reports are available online at www.modbee.com/reports/autotheft. Starting today, and continuing each Saturday, The Bee will publish a list of vehicle theft suspects arrested during the previous seven days.
-- DAN DAY, MANAGING EDITOR
Eleven people were arrested for suspicion of auto theft in Stanislaus County between Oct. 28 and Thursday. There were 27 cars reported stolen in that time.
