Excerpted from Tuesday's San Jose Mercury News:
For years San Jose has been hoping for a chance to bring the Oakland A's to Silicon Valley. This week a big door swung open, with Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig's decision to appoint a committee to study the team's stadium options. By any logical measure, that should place San Jose at the top of the list. The city should leap at the opportunity. Selig's committee shouldn't be a hard sell. The greater challenge will be firming up a ballpark plan that voters will love. It will take hard work and intense community involvement but it'll be worth it to bring the A's to San Jose.
