We need leaders, not whiners

Why do so many people waste their time writing letters to the editor solely for the purpose of preaching gloom and doom upon our society? What is there to gain with that sad mentality? Our society needs leaders, not whiners. Dogs whine for attention; must we stoop to that level for social progress?

Politicians are just representatives, after all, and if who they represent fail to model something worth representing then there will be no progress in this country. Politicians can only do so much, and though there are some bad apples, the broad majority are committed to making their communities better places through service to the government. How many of the people whining to the editor can say that?

And remember, politicians only get into their offices one way — through you, the voter. The blame game cannot go on forever. Know who and what you're voting for thoroughly before you cast that ballot and be ready for the consequences.
