When Lincoln entered office in 1861, the nation was in an unprecedented crisis. The government was bankrupt. Federal employees had not been paid for a year and a half, and the nation was facing civil war.
Britain and France were threatening to join with the Confederacy. They already had Mexico under Maximilian. The situation looked hopeless. In five short years Lincoln won the war and turned the U.S. into the world's leading industrialized nation, all the while fighting the bloodiest American war.
Today we have a far worse crisis dawning upon us -- a total disintegration of the world economy is knocking at the door. How did Lincoln save the Union?
Today we must abolish the Federal Reserve and re-establish the National Bank, a bank for the people and by the people. Place a moratorium on all foreclosures; protect American industry and agriculture by raising tariffs and breaking up the food cartel.
Re-establish Glass/Steagall and outlaw all speculation. The banks must be put into reorganization and all the speculative debts written off.
If this is not done soon, the U.S. will collapse as did the U.S.S.R., and the rest of the world will quickly follow suit.
