I was looking forward to a Democrat in the White House. The Democrats constantly complained about the lack of action on global warming by the Bush administration. Now the Democrats are taking action which is a complete joke.
Most other industrialized countries are attempting to reduce greenhouse gases to at or near 20 percent below 1990 levels, the worldwide standard. The Democratic climate bill is going to try to reduce greenhouse gases by 17 percent but check the detail. The actual reduction in greenhouse gases based on 1990 levels will actually be closer to
3.8 percent. The Democratic climate bill changes the base year to 2005, which had greenhouse gases production levels that were approximately 16 percent higher than 1990 levels.
The Democratic climate bill also contains trade sanctions against countries that are not making an effort to reduce greenhouse gases. What are going to be the standards to gauge their efforts? Are we going to use the worldwide standard or our pitiful efforts at reducing greenhouse gases?
