Clerics demonstrate corrupt power

I bear no malice to any person of the Islam faith. I tolerate religions of all types. But I find it incredulous that the ruling cleric in Iran would propose executing people for doubting the validity of an election that generated voting irregularities of considerable proportions, like 30 percent to 40 percent greater totals than voters available. The people want accountability and fairness, but the ruling cleric calls them people against God for protesting his decision to approve the re-election of the current president of Iran.

Two observations: First, the old maxim that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely is being played out in its fullest form in the actions of the supreme leader. Second, the ruling clerics were brought to power on the coattails of the very people who are now asking them to be accountable, and in return, those people are being persecuted for questioning the authority of the clerics.

If the election was valid, publish the numbers and let the vote be audited. Otherwise, the perception of a rigged election will stand for the ages.
