Hey Modesto! Take a lesson from Fresno

I was born and raised in Modesto and lived here for 18 years. I moved to Fresno when I went to college and that is where I have lived for the last 26 years. I work in a sales job that has brought me back to Modesto once a week for the last 14 years.

I travel up and down the valley and Modesto has the worst traffic problems by a mile! If it's not getting stuck in constant red lights at the mall, then it's the so-called expressway delays or the standstills on 99 for no apparent reason.

I know I am not alone with my complaints! I can't see how anyone in Modesto can stand for the lack of planning the city has put into your roads.

Fresno is a city to admire for well-thought-out traffic planning, with three crosstown freeways and the many expressways that were built with growth in mind. All of those roads have medians so that traffic flows like it is intended. The taxpayers of Fresno voted in a sales tax to fund these roads over 20 years ago.

Modesto needs to address these problems before gridlock detours growth and commerce!
