In response to "Quit believing in grim fairy tales" (Jan. 7, Letters): It is evident that you have been taught by a Christian basher or you just interpreted the Bible incorrectly. In Luke 14:26 Jesus telling people to love him above anything and everything. In Matthew 10:34 Jesus telling the disciples that a commitment to him is going to cause conflicts even among families and friends.
I invite the writer, other readers and self-righteous churchgoers to remember what Jesus said in Matthew 23:37, that the greatest commandments of all are to love God above all else and to love your neighbor as yourself. I'm excited that we agree that the world would be much better if people would just pursue love. John 13:34 says, "Just as I (Jesus) have loved you, you should love each other."
