Sad example of intimidation How very, very sad that an American citizen had to resign from his position due to intimidation from the gay community. The same tactic was employed by the Nazis, and we know what the Nazis did to the gay citizens in Germany.

Looks like history is repeating itself, only in reverse.

Makes a person weep, doesn't it?

Enough of this debate

Why is The Bee allowing this yes-no debate on Proposition 8 to continue? The voters have spoken. End of conversation.

I wear my motorcycle helmet, my seatbelt and unlike most, do not talk on my cell phone without an ear piece. The Bee is allowing this to continue by giving it ink. Then again, you need to sell papers even if The Bee wants to turn its back on the voice of the voters.

Teach tolerance first

My kids asked more questions from the commercials about Proposition 8 than they ever learned in school. To those to oppose gay marriage, try being a good parent, then judging people. My kids have never learned about gay marriage in school. Until we can teach our kids about tolerance, none of us can grow and become good parents to our next generation.

Court overstepped its authority

When the Supreme Court overturned Proposition 22, the court referred to Prop 22 and Family Code Section 300 and said the definition of marriage as between a man and a women was unconstitutional. The court said, when gender was removed from the law, then it would be legal for same-sex marriages. The court has the right to rule that the definition was unconstitutional, but they do not have the right to make new law, and that is what they did.

Same-sex marriages have never been legal in California. The court changed the intent of the law. The court did not cite a legal precedent for their decision, but went to the equal protection clause of the California Constitution. The constitution does not contain a definition of marriage, but in article XI section 14 in referring to property, it refers to both the wife and husband. The Supreme Court, in their decision, said this was the intent of those writing the constitution.

Give kids the opportunity to grow up straight

Regarding "Why shouldn't gays marry?" (Nov. 9, Letters) which says that no one is harmed by same-sex marriages and no one needs to feel threatened by them: I think you should reconsider. The children are threatened. When children, who are not born gay, begin to inquire about same-sex union, when they ask questions about the homosexual lifestyle, then people will be harmed.

In educating straight children about homosexuality, you will provoke them to question their own sexuality. We lead and teach by example. Same-sex marriage sends a harmful and most confusing message to children. They'll emulate what they see; they'll act on what they learn. Kids do experiment. Think about how much damage all of this can cause.

Children are innocent. If anyone's rights are being violated in the war against traditional marriage, it's the rights of our kids. This is a real injustice. This is the unfairness. As a society, let's give our kids the opportunity to grow up straight by not promoting homosexuality.

Factors leading to, from homosexuality

Scientifically, homosexuality is unfounded as a genetical problem only. They cite it is possibly genetics and other factors.

If other factors lead someone to the homosexual lifestyle, then to remove them from those other factors might lead them away from that lifestyle. Isn't it true that if someone thinks about something continually, then their personality will reflect what is on their mind?

If homosexuality isn't a condition from birth, then it isn't a civil rights issue because they weren't born predisposed. If they aren't predisposed, then at some point they decided to act on a desire and to act is to choose. This has nothing to do with equality; it has everything to do with people enabling improper behavior and encouraging it.

Would you buy an alcoholic a beer to comfort him in his current situation? Rather how bout we reject buying him a beer, rather show him love and help him see their is another way! I propose that Jesus Christ and the cross are the only way.
